The Harrington & Richardson (H&R) smooth bore Handy Gun was manufactured from the early 1920s through 1934. It is a small game gun that was commercially available in both .410 & 28Ga with barrels approximately 8” or 12.25”. Though the exact number of Handy Guns manufactured is really unknown, it has been rumored that there were in excess of 25,000 produced. This example is a Model 2, Type 3 w/blued bbl. & “Tiger Stripe” cyanide dipped, case hardened receiver. Brass bead front sight. Checkered wooden pistol grip & smooth fore grip. Single shot break action. Bbl. marked on top “410-12M/M CHOKE “.
Considered an any other weapon by the National Firearms Act (AOW). Transfers on a form 4 w/ a $5 tax or Form 3 to an SOT.
