VERY RARE & FINE MCCORMICK PATTERN 1798 HORSEMAN’S FLINTLOCK PISTOL.

01-21501

Cal. 64
NSN

16.25” overall, 10.25” barrel proofed at breech “US” & eaglehead over “P” in sunken cartouche. The long rebated lock by Ketland marked at tail vertically “UNITED / STATES”. Brass furniture and full length walnut stock, proofed “US” and “MCCORMICK” opposite lock.

There are a handful of these elegant pistols of same configuration known assembled at Schuylkill Arsenal, all are known as “McCormick pistols” but no more 4 or 5 assembled by Robert McCormick of Philadelphia and marked “MCCORMICK” such as this one. This is beautiful survivor and considered among the best of all these horseman pistols.
