MAGNIFICENT MAUSER CARBINE, WITH 1905 HAMMER SAFETY, SOLID FRAME SERIAL # 4.

22-3232

Cal. 7.63mm
S# 4

Although Mauser carbines are scarce by any standard, this example would rank amongst the top in condition & rarity as one of the very few to have been fitted w/ the 1905 hammer safety, the only known example whose frame has been altered to prevent the buttstock from being detached & one of just a handful to have the floorplate release positioned inside the trigger guard.

This pistol has a 16″ bbl. w/ a serrated front sight ramp securing a drift adjustable sight. Slip in rear sight graduated from 50-500 w/ a grooved cursor & a center line whose groove extends into the sight mount. Short extractor, 2 lug firing pin, special 1905 hammer & correspondingly altered safety. The top of the chamber is marked w/ the usual Mauser address. Left chamber flat w/ the number “4”. The central panel on the left side of the frame marked “GERMANY”. Right side of frame has 2 line Mauser address referencing its location in Oberndorf. Fitted w/ a smooth walnut forend & buttstock, each mounted w/ rotating sling swivels. Buttplate, similar to that of a 98k, is in the white & secured w/ 2 screws. Major components are rust blued. Most of the small parts are fire blued w/ the bolt, hammer, sub frame & sling swivel loops in the white. The number “4” is repeated on sight bar, top of the bolt & bolt stop. Limited disassembly shows a matching follower & floorplate.

STATUS: CURIO.
