In 1967 the Air Force tested slide action shotguns for possible procurement. High Standard submitted it’s model K-102. The Remington 870 was adopted. On page 184 of “Combat Shotguns” by Canfield it is stated that “some of these weapons (High Standard shotguns) were “locally” procured by the USAF in the late 1960’s or early 1970’s. Used by USAF security personal these are among the rarest Vietnam era military used shotguns. Bbl. 18 1/4″ with cyl bore. Ramp mounted blade front sight with elevator adj. rear sight. Full length tubular mag. Blue finish. Grooved hardwood forend & pistol stock with plastic buttplate. Left side of stock is stamped with a cartouche & large “U.S.”. Right side of receiver has the flaming bomb acceptance mark. Right side of stock has a small “U.S.” stamping. Toe line of stock & mag plug have filler screws in place of swivels.
