Bbl: 19″. The Madsen Model 1950 was designed in 1950 w/ lineage going back to the very early 1900s. The first Madsen LMG model was designed in 1901. Since it was the first real Light Machine Gun, there was plenty of demand and it was sold to over 30 different countries in several different caliber configurations. The most common calibers encountered today are 30-06 or 8mm Mauser. It has a very unique operating system that is similar to the Martini Henry. The bolt only travels a little over an inch rearward, yet it will still accommodate a 3″ long cartridge. The design is conducive to modularity, using a quick change barrel and a magazine without feed lips that could be used w/ numerous cartridges. It has a heavy finned bbl. that resides inside a slotted, ventilated barrel shroud. The shroud is terminated w/ an external thread for use w/ a muzzle brake that can double as a rate increaser w/ the use of an insert. Rear of the front sight is a folding bipod. Front sling swivel located about half-way between barrel shroud & receiver. The rear sling swivel is located below the front of the shoulder stock. Currently sporting brown leather sling. Carry handle on bbl shroud in front of rear sight. Sights consist of protected front blade, and elevation adjustable tangent rear sight marked from 200 meters to 1900 meters. All exposed metal surfaces have dark black enamel finish. Wooden rear butt stock w/ socket on bottom for a monopod. Ejection port dust cover beneath action open automatically upon charging or firing. Markings include The Portuguese Contract Crest on left side of receiver. Many markings matching numbers & filled w/ white for an attractive contrast, making them easy to read. MAGS: 10 steel 30 rd.

UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: Leather mag. pouch for 4 mags.
