PRE 86 DEALER SAMPLE (KEEPER) AUTO ORDNANCE THOMPSON M1 SUBMACHINE GUN

03-1839
Cal. 45 ACP
S# 144542.

Bbl. 10.5″. M1 Model of the infamous Thompson MSG, “the gun that made the 20’s roar”. Classic hard wood furniture including horizontal forend. Shoulder stock had metal butt plate w/ trap door, containing oil bottle. Matte parkerized finish on all exposed metal surfaces. Above the horizontal handguard lies a smooth tapered bbl. which terminates at the familiar front blade sight. Sling swivels front & rear w/ tan canvas sling. The simple yet effective rear sight combines a fixed peep w/ a notch in its protected environment for fast target acquisition. Right side smooth cocking handle. This example has characteristics from both the M1 version and the M1A1. It has the reinforcing cross bolt in the shoulder stock, like an M1A1, yet still retains a floating firing pin like a standard M1. Receiver is marked M1 while ATF registry has it recorded as an M1A1. The M1 utilizes the heavily produced 20 rd. & 30 rd. stick mag. Receiver markings are as follows: (Left side) “THOMPSON SUB MACHINE GUN – CALIBER 45 M1 – NO. 144542”; (Top) familiar Thompson trademark bullet logo, forward of rear sight; (Right side) “AUTO – ORDNANCE CORPORATION – BRIDGEPORT CONNECTICUT, U.S.A.”. Grip frame matching, numbered to receiver. MAGS: 4 steel 30 rd.
