FN ESTONIAN MILITARY CONTRACT HIGH POWER PISTOL, K.L.

In 1937 Estonia placed an order for 5338 pistols for its military. Of those 2300 were marked “K.L.” for issue to the Home Guard. Although the pistols were ordered without shoulder stocks, all were completed with a slotted frame. The pistol has a rear sight graduated from 50-500. The left side of the slide is marked with the usual FN address along with the reference to Browning’s patent. The usual Belgian proofs are scattered on the left side of the slide, left side of the frame and on the exposed barrel hood that is also marked “CAL 9mmP”. The right side of the slide and right side of the frame are marked with the full serial number that is repeated on the left (hidden) side of the barrel hood. A large “K.L.” is above the slot on the backstrap. The pistol is fitted with wood checkered and bordered grips and a Pre-war High Power magazine with a phosphate body, aluminum follower, and blued split-tail floorplate.
