Bbl.25″. A rare variant of the AN-M2 machine gun, developed for aircraft use. The Colt M.G.40 shares some aesthetics w/ the much more common Browning Model 1919, though upon close examination is quite different. It was designed to be used as a single gun, or in combination w/ others for a multi-gun system. It can be configured to feed from both the right side & left side to suit the intended application. It has a cyclic rate much faster than the Browning relative as well. This particular example is set up to feed from the right side. It utilizes a set of spade grips, located at the rear of the receiver. The barrel shroud is 17″ in length and possesses slotted perferations to aid in barrel cooling. Top of receiver, rear of the top cover marked; “COLT AIRCRAFT MACHINE GUN / BROWING PATENTS . CAL. 30 M.G. 40 NO. C-110643 / MANUFACTURED BY / COLT’S PATENT FIREARMS MFG. CO. / HARTFORD, CONN. U.S.A.” w/ 5 patents listed below. 2.5″ diameter circular rear sight w/ 3″ tall “pin” style front sight, both detachable. ATF paperwork simply states manufacturer as “Colt” and model as “MG40”. MAGS: 1 new cloth belt.

NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT MG REQUIRING BATF TRANSFER BEFORE TAKING POSSESSION. FULLY TRANSFERABLE.
