Bbl. 26′ round. Combination front, model 1887 rear w/ Vernier peep tang sight. Case colored high arch 1873 dated breech block. Springfield 1873 lock. Lock, breech block, receiver, trigger guard bow & peak of carbine buttplate have foliate scroll hand engraving. Half length straight grip walnut stock. Features include hand checkering & engraved pewter nose cap w/ fancy finial. Hardwood ramrod w/ nickel finished brass tip is held by a single faceted iron pipe. Estimated quantity of 125 first type rifles were mfg. 1875-1877.
