ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL, FULLY TRANSFERABLE GERMAN MP40 SUBMACHINE GUN, BATTLEFIELD PICKUP FROM THE EUROPEAN THEATER OF WWII

Bbl. 10”. A beautiful example of an iconic, German, WWII era submachine gun w/ an interesting story, in amazing condition. It is accompanied by a copy of the original IRS Form 6, listing this firearm, dated February 15, 1946. It also includes an interesting record of events from an interview of the original owner of this firearm, Silver Star & Purple Heart recipient, Velweed Pflueger, about his experience in WWII, leading to the acquisition of this firearm. Of all the German WWII era SMGs, the MP40 may be the most iconic of them all. Its slow cyclic rate combined w/ decent sights & pleasant ergonomics make it as fun to operate as it is interesting to look at. It utilizes a very simplistic, yet incredibly smooth open bolt firing mechanism. The recoil system is typical of German over engineering consisting of a 3 piece telescoping rod w/ a captured spring that doubles as the connection point for the firing pin which slides inside of the bolt. The safety mechanism is an extremely simple design which shares commonalties w/ other WWII era SMGs. It consists of a rearward notch that interfaces w/ the cocking handle holding the bolt to the rear. This example was manufactured by Haenel. Early, first generation mag. housing which is smooth, w/ a square notch facing the shooter. All visibly numbered parts share matching numbers which is incredibly desirable & increasingly rare these days. The extruded receiver tube matches the grip frame, barrel, trigger housing, stock, bolt, barrel nut, rear sight & front sight. Hooded fixed blade front sight. Dual leaf rear sight is windage drift adjustable. Waffenamts appear on multiple parts including rear receiver just above folding stock mechanism “WaA254”, front sight mechanism just forward of resting bar is also Eagle “37”, front of receiver tube just rear of bbl. nut Eagle w/ “WaA44”. Under folding stock, dark brown Bakelite grips & lower receiver cover. MAGS: 4 steel 32 rd.
