S&W 357 REGISTERED MAGNUM REVOLVER WITH ORIGINAL BOX

Bbl. 8 3/4″ with pinned Call gold bead blade front sight; factory frame contoured adjustable rear. Shipped March 11, 1937 to E. K. Tryon Co. of Philadelphia, PA. References state 6,647 Registered models were made from 1935 to 1940 (plus 4 in 1941 and 1 in 1942) when production ceased due to the associated costs of registration and its custom orders. Reg. No. 1 went to J. Edgar Hoover and No. 506 to Gen. George S. Patton. All Registered models came with a certificate listing the revolvers features and specifications to include its trigger pull (both single and double action); signed by S&W Vice President, Dan Wesson. Most were custom built with varying barrel lengths, etc. Most common barrel length was 6 1/2″ with most any length (23 available) desired from 3 1/2″ to 8 3/4″ in 1/4″ increments. Many different front sights were available as well as factory grip adapters and grips plus the humpback hammer was introduced in 1936. Fitted with standard width serrated trigger and finely checkered hammer having fine concentric grooves on sides; both case colored. Blued with fine checkering on top strap and top of barrel rib. Matching numbered barrel, frame, cylinder and extractor. Grips are checkered Magna style (matching numbered) with diamond center around grip screw plus locating disks are machined in-the-white without markings; large silver medallions. Numbered within the 44 Hand Ejector series having a 5 screw N frame with 6 groove grip straps plus yoke detent to facilitate loading by assisting to hold yoke open. Later feature of S&W monogram on side plate; earlier examples had smaller logo on left below cylinder release.
UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: very fine original violet colored 2 piece box that still retains its white sticker on the bottom showing serial and registration numbers (both very readable); lid pictures revolver with Magna grips. Factory letter of 2017 supporting above info plus stating that it was sighted at 25 yards with 357 ammo using 6 o’clock hold along with additional general model history.
