FINE & RARE CASED PAIR OF LARGE FRAME NO. 2 VOLCANIC REPEATING ARMS LEVER ACTION PISTOLS

Pistols are in standard configuration with blued 8″ octagonal barrel, integral spring loaded magazine, fixed notch rear sights, pinched post front sights, brass frame, varnished walnut grips. Manufactured between 1855-1859 after the formation of the Volcanic Arms Company from the dissolved original Smith & Wesson Co. Barrel markings: “THE VOLCANIC ARMS CO. / NEW HAVEN CONN / PATENT FEB 14 1854″ on top flat. This pair of pistols are in fine matching condition and old custom casing contains a four piece iron and wood carbine cleaning rod, and a single 41 caliber rocket ball cartridge. An estimated 1500 8” Volcanic Arms Company pistols were made 1855-1857.
