CASED & NIMSCHKE ENGRAVED COLT 1862 POCKET NAVY RICHARDS-MASON CARTRIDGE CONVERSION REVOLVER

This is a beautiful silver plated 5.5″ round barrel Richard-Masons factory conversion, described by Bruce McDowell as late production with external gate spring and large hammer screw. 2-line patents on left side of frame. This revolver was originally made in percussion in 1861, conversion 1872-1874. Fine high relief carved eagle & snake ivory grips numbered to match gun, housed in Colt red baize lined mahogany case. Nearly identical Nimschke engraved examples are found in Bruce McDowell’s 1997 text “A Study of Colt Conversions and Other Percussion Revolvers”.
