Cal. 375 Rimless Express
S# 15234 (1913)
The 25″ tapered round lightweight barrel is fitted with sleeved on rear island base holding one standing two folding express rear sights. A stippled front ramp holds silver bead with flip up night bead. A sling eye is soldered on. Top of barrel is engraved “Joseph Lang & Son 102 New Bond Street London” in front of rear sight and “.375 Rimless” “44 Grs. AXITE” “270 Gr. BULLET” behind. London nitro proofs for this light cordite round are on left rear of barrel. Fine scroll engraving is at top of barrel shank. Standard length model 98 Mauser action was sourced from DWM as Mauser’s production of commercial actions at the time was dedicated to Rigby and Jeffrey. An Argentine proof is at top of bolt stop in M 1909 style. A screw is installed at rear of bridge to remove bolt wobble. Bolt has handle turned down in commercial style. Bottom of flag safety is inlaid “SAFE” in gold. 1909 type bottom metal has hinged floorplate with release button in trigger guard bow. Bow has been nicely shaped. Trigger is altered to single pull. Action and bottom metal are engraved with about 70% coverage very nicely cut and shaded classic English rose and scroll. S# is engraved on trigger guard bow. Capped pistol grip buttstock of fancy stump figured and well marbled European walnut measures 14-1/4″ over steel buttplate. Stock features hard rubber grip cap, horn forend tip, flat top point pattern checkering, sling eye and vacant silver oval. MEASUREMENTS: WEIGHT: 7 lb. 4 oz.
