A classic Griffin & Howe; unusual in that it does not have a receiver sight or side mount. The 24″ star gauge barrel has been slimmed and fitted with stippled quarter rib which holds one standing and three folding leaf express rear sights. A sling loop is banded on and front ramp holding gold bead and fitted with knurled sight protector is also banded on. Top of barrel is engraved “No. 823 GRIFFIN & HOWE, inc. NEW YORK”. Caliber is engraved at left rear. 1903 Springfield action has top of receiver ring stippled and rear tang slimmed and shaped. Bolt with Damascened body and extractor has had handle turned down with bottom of knob flattened. Knob is checkered with two panels. Standard double pull trigger is retained and bottom metal is unaltered except for slimming of bow and a small checkered patch at front of floorplate. Pistol grip stock of very nicely marbled and stump figured European walnut measures 13-1/2″ over checkered steel buttplate with trap. There is space for cleaning kit and two cartridges under trap. Stock features beaded right hand cheekpiece, horn forend tip, vacant silver oval and sling stud. Case hardened steel grip cap is scroll engraved and has trap. Checkering is of usual Griffin & Howe point pattern style and runs over top of grip and around forend. MEASUREMENTS: WEIGHT: 7 lb. 7 oz.
