Gary Stiles, now deceased, gained a stellar reputation as a fine custom riflesmith and examples of his work are in many collections. This elegant rifle has 24″ tapered octagon barrel with integral rear sight base holding one standing three folding leaf express sights. Sling eye and front sight base are also milled from one piece. A knurled front sight cover is present. Top flat of barrel is engraved “G. Stiles for Dr. P. Fenchak”. DWM Model 98 action has been fitted with Talley QD scope bases. Bolt release has been nicely reshaped with button checkered. Bolt body is neatly engine turned. Bolt handle is of Model 70 style and is checkered with five panels. Flag safety on standard bolt shroud is gold inlaid “FIRE” & “SAFE”. Blackburn drop box bottom metal has hinged floorplate with button release in bow. A commercial trigger has been fitted. Swept pistol grip stock of smoky marbled and lightly figured French walnut measures 13-3/4″ over black leather covered pad. Stock features a swept shadow line right hand cheekpiece as often used by Gary; ebony forend tip, steel grip cap, vacant silver oval and sling eye. Checkering is very cleanly cut in point pattern with mullered borders at points; borderless at tops, bottom and rear. Rifle is mounted with Schmidt & Bender 1-1/2″- 6X 30mm scope with duplex and three post reticle in Talley QD rings. MEASUREMENTS: WEIGHT: 10 lb. 4 oz. with scope.
