LARGE RARE CONGREVE BOWIE KNIFE
14.75″ overall, 9.75″ clip point blade, .34″ thick, 1.6″ wide, serrated top edge, 1-piece checkered ivory handle with central silver capped iron pin, German silver clamshell pommel & ferrule, silver plated sculpted 2.75″ cross guard. No maker’s mark, but “CELEBRATED / HUNTING KNIFE” stamped in panel lengthwise, known on at least one Congreve marked example. Congreve is among the earliest Sheffield makers of 1830s.
