HIGHLY ENGRAVED WALTHER MODEL PPK WITH LUFTWAFFE PHOTOS & DOCUMENT PERTAINING TO CAPTAIN RUDOLF PUCHINGER
25-4962
Cal. 7.65mm.
S# 822222.
Bbl. 3 1/4″.
Model PPK semi-automatic pistol mfg. by Walther circa. 1934. Left side of the slide is marked with the Walther banner logo, followed by markings stipulating Walther’s mfg. information, as well as the model and cal. designations. Right side of the frame (on chamber), slide, and bbl. exhibit a German Crown/N commercial nitro proof. Frame and slide feature near full coverage oak leaf engraved panels on a stippled background. Front grip strap is engraved with what appears to be an intertwined “hh” monogram. Metal components exhibit a nicely reapplied blue finish overall, with the hammer having a plum appearance. Frame is mounted with a 1-piece Walther banner mottled brown checkered synthetic grip. Slide features a grooved matte rib with an integral blade front sight and U-notch rear sight. Interior of slide is etched “222” parallel to the ejection port, seemingly above another number. MAGS: 2 blued 7-rd. 1 mag. with seemingly contemporarily engraved floorplate, the other with what appears to be a reproduction mottled brown grip extension. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: brown leather holster marked “D.R.G.M.” above the Akah logo on the break away flap. This lot is also accompanied by an original letter dated “13 MARCH 1944” requesting a promotion of Captain Rudolf Puchinger of the Luftwaffe and photos, presumably of Puchinger. Research indicates that Rudolf Puchinger was shot down in a JU 188 A-2 by a Mosquito of the 264th Squadron during a nighttime sortie over the Orne Estuary in Normandy on June 13th of 1944. Document and photos are housed within a period black leather folder that features a gold pre-party eagle on the cover.
