RARE 28 GA. BHE PARKER SHOTGUN WITH SPECIAL ORDER ENGRAVING AND CASE

Factory records indicate that this gun was made in 1903 with 28″ 20 Ga. Damascus barrels. Stock was straight grip and gun had neither ejectors or single trigger. Gun presently is fitted with 27-7/8″ Acme steel barrels in 28 Ga. and features automatic ejectors and a single trigger. The barrels are marked with Parker name and Meriden Conn address along with “Acme Steel” (first offered around 1905) on typical concave matted rib. Barrel flats are stamped with weight, steel info, grade and patent dates as well as “2” frame size “0” and “28” are on rear lump. Case hardened action with non-automatic safety and unmarked single non-selective trigger has all correct markings on watertable and is very nicely filed in grade B manner with beads around fences and chevron on top lever. Standard engraving for B grade guns consists of dogs and birds within a field of scroll. Engraving on this gun is obviously special ordered and consists of flower blossoms in circles on sides of action framed by an interplay of nicely cut scroll within line and geometric borders. Trigger plate is engraved with a pyramid of more blooms amid more very well cut and shaded scroll. “PARKER BROS.” is on arched ribbon on both sides of action. Trigger guard with scroll on bow has S# on tang. Straight grip buttstock made of very nicely veined and lightly figured European walnut measures 13-3/8″ over checkered wood butt. Stock features typical B grade grip checkering with fleur-de-lis extension into comb, inset checkered side panels and fleur-de-lis drop points. A vacant gold oval is on toeline attached with tacks in correct Parker fashion. Matching splinter ejector forend with nicely filed steel tip is near fully checkered. Patent dates are engraved on typical release and stamped on iron. MEASUREMENTS: BBLS: Bore Diameter: L .555 R .555. Restriction: L .025 (Mod). R .005 (IC). Wall thickness: L .034. R .032. STOCK: DAH: 2-1/2″. DAC: 1-5/8″. CAST: about 1/2′ off. LOP: 13-3/8″. WEIGHT: 6 lb. 6 oz. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: gun is housed in aluminum motor type case by Dan Walter Cases which is lined in red velvet. Case contains a pair of 28 Ga. A-Zoom snap caps, a pair of plastic 20 Ga. snap caps, a 20 Ga. Morocco leather hand guard and cleaning equipment under lift out tray.
