EXPERIMENTAL 10-SHOT WALTHER MODEL PP SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL
25-3545 | Cal. 7.65mm. | S# 944333. | Bbl. 3 7/8″.
A unique variation of the iconic Walther Model PP, utilizing an extended length frame and mag. with a 10-rd. capacity. Very little is known about this variation, but it is believed that Walther took existing standard length PP frames and lengthened them via the welding of a flared butt section and the addition of lengthened grips. A total of 2 extended capacity Walther PPs are known, with one example believed to have been captured at the Walther factory by a USGI. A similar example is described on page 129 and pictured on page 130 of “Walther Volume III” by James L. Rankin. This example is marked with the Walther banner, followed by standard Walther markings denoting mfg. information, as well as the model and cal. designations on the left side of the slide. Right side of the frame, slide, and bbl. exhibit a Crown/N commercial nitro proof. Metal components exhibit a reapplied blue finish overall. Chamber area has been repolished in-the-white. Frame is mounted with 2-piece reproduction checkered wood grips, with the left panel featuring a thumbrest. Rear grip strap is not checkered, as is found on two other noted examples. Slide features a grooved matte rib, with a fixed blade front sight and dovetailed U-notch rear sight. Slide matches the frame via “333”, which is etched on the interior, parallel to the ejection port. MAGS: 1 polished in-the-white 10-rd. mag. with 9 transverse indicator holes.
