FIRST CONTRACT COLT U.S. M1911A1 SEMI AUTO PISTOL

Per Colt letter, this pistol was 1 of 500 shipped March 18, 1937 to the US Government, Springfield Armory at Springfield, Mass. The first order of Colt 1911A1 pistols was from S# range 710,000 to 711,000, this pistol was apart of the third shipment to Springfield Armory and has most of correct features. This pistol has majority of original brushed blue military finish. The correct era Colt 5″ barrel with top of exposed portion polished bright, “COLT 45 AUTO” above barrel lug and a “P on the left side of the lug. Slide has matching S# under the firing pin retainer, early round blade front sight, early “U” notch rear sight & early markings include “MODEL OF 1911. U. S. ARMY” on right side. Frame has most correct parts including slide lock without undercut, long rounded spur hammer, arched checkered mainspring housing & fully checkered walnut grips; grip safety has altered tip contour from standard production. Left side of triggerguard is stamped with “H” & Colt “VP” proof, right side stamped “7”. MAGS: 1 Colt 7 rd.; refinished with clean straight finish lines. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: factory Colt letter.
