WWI BRITISH AIR CONTRACT COLT COMMERCIAL MODEL 1911 SEMI AUTO PISTOL

Per “Colt .45 Government Models (Commercial Series)” by Charles W. Clawson, this pistol was originally purchased as part of Contract No. 94/P/1118 & shipped Sept. 26, 1916 for the British Ministry of Munitions (eventually the RAF). Left side of the frame and slide have Colt factory “crossed pennant” proofs. Left side of the frame has broad arrow, and “crown / U3 / F” proofs. The pistol also shows Post WWII Birmingham proofs for surplus. Colt Government model commercial features, including a original 5″ Colt barrel marked “.455 S.L. .923 / 6 GRs NPP10 / 225 ” BULLET”. Two-piece double-diamond-checkered walnut grips. MAGS: 1 two-tone 7-rd. with lanyard loop marked “455 / ELEY”. Mag. shows peppery oxidation & spots of worn blue finish. STATUS: CURIO.
