BEAUTIFUL, PROFESSIONALLY ENGRAVED & SILVER EMBELLISHED GERMAN MAUSER “S/42” CODE “1936” DATE P.08 LUGER SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL
26-1947 | Cal. 9x19mm. | S# 6947h. | Bbl. 3 15/16″.
Originally mfg. as a standard P.08 Luger by Mauser in 1936, this example was later professionally engraved and embellished. The bbl. extension is marked “1936” over the top of the chamber, with Mauser’s “S/42” mfg. code marked on the forward toggle link. Underside of the bbl. is engraved “KELLY” at the center of a jousting lance. Pistol features near full coverage finely executed engraving consisting of vine type scrollwork on finely stippled backgrounds. Front grip strap exhibits scrollwork stemming from the toe to approx. the halfway point, with foliate motifs engraved along the edges, which terminate in a clamshell motif at the underside of the trigger guard. Bbl. extension, sides of frame, and bbl. at edges of muzzle flare feature gold line borders. Sideplate features a raised silver engraved moose head, with a raised silver white tail buck present on the right frame “ear”. Metal components exhibit a professionally reapplied blue finish, with the usual small parts exhibiting a straw finish. Frame is mounted with thick 2-piece custom natural white grips, the left panel having been carved with the German 1930s-1940s era parteiadler. Grip screw heads are engraved with floral motifs. Standard P.08 dovetailed blade front sight and fixed V-notch rear sight. All serialized parts are matching and include the frame, takedown lever, trigger, safety lever & bar, hold-open latch, bbl., bbl. extension, trigger bar, breechblock, extractor, firing pin, as well as the toggles. MAGS: x1 blued steel 8-rd. mag. with non-matching aluminum plug (S#: 3621v) featuring engraved foliate motifs on the ears. STATUS: CURIO.
