EXCEPTIONALLY RARE DOCUMENTED WINCHESTER MODEL 1892 FACTORY SMOOTHBORE WITH FULL NICKEL FINISH

Smoothbore Winchester rifles of any Model are very rare, the fact that this one letters back to Winchester is exceptionally important as there are numerous examples of smoothbore rifles that were manufactured during the time frame where records no longer exist. Bbl. 24″ oct with German silver sporting front sight and elevator adjustable semi buckhorn rear sight. Rifle features a full nickel plated metal finish. Nicely figured walnut forearm and straight grip buttstock with metal forend cap and crescent steel buttplate. Right side of buttstock stamped “101”; possibly indicating association with the 101 Ranch. Due to this rifle’s unique configuration, it is almost certain that this example was used in exhibition shooting at one time. While there is no documentation specifically tying this gun to the 101 Ranch, it is certainly possible that it was used there. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: Winchester factory letter stating: “The manufacturer’s data for Model 1892, serial number 54117, as extracted from the original Winchester records housed in the museum, are as follows: Type: Rifle / Caliber: 44 / Barrel Type: Octagon / Trigger: Plain / Nickel / Smoothbore / Received in warehouse on January 17, 1896 / Shipped from warehouse on January 18, 1896, Order number 4390”. A wooden writing box; inked on inside “MILLER BRO’S 101 RANCH TRUST / MARLAND, OKLA”. Large binder of documentation containing information in regards to the Miller Bro’s 101 Ranch along with 101 Ranch marked envelopes, reproduction show schedules, cabinet cards of “Texas” Cooper and Pawnee Bill, and two books pertaining to the 101 Ranch.
