FULLY TRANSFERABLE, DISPLAY READY COLT 1928 MODEL 1937 GROUP INDUSTRIES WATER COOLED MACHINE GUN ON 1917A1 TRIPOD
03-2020 | Cal. 30. | S# 300072. | Bbl. 24.
A beautiful Colt Commercial Model 1928 Water Cooled Machine Gun registered by Group Industries mounted on an equally impressive 1942 dated, model 1917A1 tripod. The Colt Commercial Model 1928 water-cooled machine guns were originally manufactured in the late 1920s to early 1930s. Built to Colt’s high commercial standards, these may be one of the rarest water-cooled Browning machine gun configurations as so few were manufactured, and they were blued instead of parkerized. This example is built on a beautifully engraved Group Industries Model M37 sideplate marked: “COLT / CAL .30 / 1928 MODEL 37 / COLT AUTOMATIC MACHINE GUN / COLT’S PAT. FIREARMS MFG. CO. / HARTFORD CONN. U.S.A.” w/ serial number & Colt rampant pony over crest. Rich blued commercial type finish on receiver. Dark blued steel water jacket w/ brass front trunnion & front end cap. Dark green tripod has very complementary polished brass fittings including the heavy brass socket & attractive data plate on the rear leg. NFA registry displays manufacturer as: BROWN, MICHAEL DBA GROUP INDUSTRIES”. NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT MG REQUIRING BATF TRANSFER BEFORE TAKING POSSESSION. FULLY TRANSFERABLE. PROVENANCE: Military Museum Collection of Shooters Outpost, Hooksett NH. STATUS: MODERN CLASS III.
