FULLY TRANSFERABLE ROYAL TYPEWRITER MODEL 1918A2 KOREAN WAR ERA BROWNING AUTOMATIC RIFLE

Bbl. 27″ over flash hider. An extremely rare fully transferable Royal Typewriter Co. manufactured BAR as pictured on page 214 of “Rock in a Hard Place / The Browning Automatic Rifle” by James L. Ballou. Formerly attributed to Chris Mathiesen Collection. Possibly amnesty registered, as recorded serial number has an IRS prefix. The BAR was developed by John Browning in 1917, as an air cooled, gas operated, mag. fed, shoulder fired automatic rifle as a requirement for WWI. Early manufacturers included Colt, Winchester & Marlin Rockwell. Approx. 85,000 were mfg. prior to the armistice. This particular example is manufactured by ROYAL TYPEWRITER CO. & is designated the Model 1918A2. It is a select fire, open bolt operating system. Gas operated w/ an adj. gas system. Top of receiver marked; “BROWNING AUTOMATIC RIFLE / US CAL 30 M1918A2 / MANF’D BY ROYAL TYPEWRITER CO. / 800297 / PATENT APPLIED FOR”. Left side of receiver stamped: “IRS 1014″ ON LEFT SIDE. Barrel marked w/ ordnance proof rear of front sight & ROT 11 (in rectangle), dated 9-52. Smooth, hardwood, 8″ forend. Black plastic shoulder stock terminated w/ folding shoulder rest & metal butt plate. Matte black finished receiver finish with slightly lighter barrel & gas tube. Barrel / receiver registration lines match. Correct threaded muzzle w/ 3.75″ tube flash hider. Dovetailed hooded front blade sight. Ladder elevated peep rear sight graduated to 1500 yards w/ folding battle sight setting. 31” Sight radius. Green canvas sling. Left side safety / selector marked “F-A-S”. Left side, non reciprocating charging handle. NFA registry lists manufacturer as Browning Arms Co. MAGS: 1 steel 20 rd.  NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT MG REQUIRING BATF TRANSFER BEFORE TAKING POSSESSION. FULLY TRANSFERABLE. STATUS: CURIO CLASS III.
