VERY FINE COLT SINGLE ACTION CAVALRY MODEL REVOLVER INSPECTED BY RINALDO A. CARR

01-29157 | Cal. 45 Colt. | S# 131892.

It is very rare to find a US contract Colt Cavalry model with this level of condition. It was mfg in 1890 as part of the 2nd and final contract of these revolvers for the US government. The 7.5″ blued barrel has the 4th and final style bbl address that is found on the cavalry revolvers in the serial number range of 54,000-140,000. Carr’s “RAC” inspector marks are found at the bottom of the bbl with a “P” proof. The ejector housing is marked with a “K” sub inspector proof at the end. The “US” marked Carr “RAC” proofed frame has the 3rd style 3-line patent marking “PAT. SEPT. 19, 1871 / “JULY 2.-72 / “JAN.19.-75”. The Carr inspected cylinder is marked with the final 4 digits of the SN “1892”, the “RAC” inspectors mark, & “P” proof. Both blued straps carry a “K” sub inspector proof. The original Colt 1-piece grips are dated “1890” over Stanhope E. Blunt’s boxed “SEB” final inspector marking on the left side. The right side carries Carr’s boxed RAC cartouche & his marking is found again on the butt. The last four digits of the SN “1892” is found penciled in the back strap channel of the grip.
