THE PINNIACLE TRAPPER: OUTSTANDING, ORIGINAL, AND POSSIBLY THE FINEST IN EXISTANCE ATF EXEMPTED 14” WINCHESTER MODEL 92 LEVER ACTION “TRAPPER” SADDLE RING CARBINE

26-2211 | Cal. 44 W.C.F. | S# 982509.

Mfg. 1926 according to table in “The Blue Book of Gun Values”. Living somewhere between civilization and the wilderness, early woodsmen, trappers and mountain men traversed through endless forests, raging rivers and vast mountain ranges. These frontiersmen and pioneers survived in harsh environments, battling the elements while stripped down to the bare essentials. In this life where every ounce carried can be the difference between life and death, the trapper carbine would prove advantageous over its full length cousin. Winchester’s line of “Trapper” Carbines were designed as a compact variation that was easier to carry and transport, yet would still pack the same punch as full length models. These rare carbines often saw hard use and abuse being simply a “Tool of the Trade” for trappers and mountain men alike.

“The Blue Book of Gun Values Thirty-Eighth Edition” by S. P. Fjestad Pg. 2242, states “This variation is almost never encountered over 30% condition – most are brown guns”. It is also noted that the majority of Model 1892 “Trapper” Carbines were manufactured with 15” barrels and were shipped to South America or Australia. These carbines were manufactured in barrel lengths of 18”, 16”, 15”, 14” and 12”. This carbine is listed as exempt on the ATF Curio & Relics list, which is a requirement for any rifle with a barrel length less than 16”.

This carbine features a full blue metal finish. Barrel 14” with carbine post front sight and original sporting rear sight. Top of receiver and barrel stamped with “WP” proof marks. Left side of barrel marked “-MODEL 92-WINCHESTER-44 W.C.F.” Banded walnut forearm measures 7 7/8” (1 1/8” shorter than standard which is correct). Walnut buttstock with carbine buttplate. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: BATFE letter of exemption listing this carbine by serial number. STATUS: CURIO
