FULLY TRANSFERABLE MARLIN 1917 “POTATO DIGGER” MACHINE GUN

Hooded blade front sight. Ladder rear sight graduated to 2600yds. Marlin made 1917 Potato Digger known as such due to the cocking arm which would project downward during firing & dig a hole in the ground. NFA registry lists Marlin as mfr. Receiver has standard Marlin Arms Corporation markings & a period X’d out serial with a period applied number “1324”. These guns were used by the AEF for training prior to going into France. Blued finish with grip assembly having a rough cast appearance. Hardwood grip panels. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: aftermarket hardcase, proper tripod with brass hardware. Also included are several FOIA documents including a redacted 1941 registration that list this gun as formerly unserviceable. PROVENANCE: Military Museum Collection of Shooters Outpost, Hooksett NH. NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT MG REQUIRING BATF TRANSFER BEFORE TAKING POSSESSION. FULLY TRANSFERABLE. STATUS: CURIO, CLASS III.
