WONDERFUL SIMSON S CODE LUGER WITH CLOSELY NUMBERED SIMSON MAGAZINE

26-2223 | Cal. 9mm Luger. | S# 1142a.

Simson & Company of Suhl, Germany, was the only firm allowed to make Lugers for the Weimar-era military and police, completing approximately 12,000 pistols between 1925 and 1934. Although some early pistols had chambers dated 1925 or 1926, the majority of them, as per this example SN: “1142a”, had a blank chamber, the only reference to Simson being the “S” on the forward toggle link and the Eagle/6 acceptance that was marked on virtually every part. Configuration is that of a standard rust blued military Luger with strawed / fire blued small parts having a 4-inch barrel with a drift-adjustable front sight and a V-notch rear sight. The full serial number with letter suffix is on the forward frame, the serial number repeated under the barrel and on the left side of the receiver. Last two digits are on virtually all the other small parts excepting the unmarked/fluted firing pin and the Simson-accepted trigger marked with only a “4”. Checkered walnut grips, each panel serialed to the pistol. Fire blued grip screws are each Simson accepted. MAGS: x1 closely serialed tinned 8-rd. mag. with aluminum plug “1151a / + ” and Simson acceptance. PROVENANCE: The Estate Collection of John Eckert. (26-2223/LMA). STATUS: CURIO.
