ALWAYS DESIRABLE SPECIAL WEAPONS CO. GERMAN WWII MP38 SUBMACHINE GUN
03-2110 | Cal. 9 (9x19mm Parabellum). | S# SWC1042. | Bbl. 9 7/8″.
MP38 submachine gun assembled on a Special Weapons Co. registered tube. The left side of the receiver is marked with the S# (to the right of the sling loop), with “SWC1042 MP-38/ SPECIAL WEAPONS CO/ WILM NC” marked on the underside. Top of the lower assembly is marked “M.P. 38/ ayf/ 40”, with the S# “4069 c” and an Eagle/280 proof marked on the left, indicating mfg. by Erma-Werke in 1940. Bbl. exhibits Erma-Werke Eagle/280 proofing. Mag. well and bolt exhibit Haenel Eagle/37 proofing, with bbl. nut and telescoping recoil spring exhibiting Steyr Eagle/623 proofing. Metal components exhibit a reapplied blue finish overall. Lower is fitted with a grooved mottled brown pressed resin lower housing and 2-piece grips. Standard hooded blade front sight and dovetailed 2-leaf (x1 fixed, x1 folding) square notch rear sight, graduated “100” and “200”. Fluted receiver with early pattern mag. well with 2 circular transverse holes, and bolt with hook type charging handle. Bbl. is fitted with a black enamel finished non-ferrous (aluminum or zinc) metal resting bar. Matching numbers are present on the lower and trigger guard. MAGS: x1 blued steel 32-rd. mag. marked with mfg. code “gqm” (Loch & Hartenberger) and date code “42” on the rear. PROVENANCE: Military Museum Collection of Shooters Outpost, Hooksett NH.
