DESIRABLE MAUSER MODEL 1932 SCHNELLFEUER MACHINE PISTOL WITH STOCK & SPARE MAGAZINES

During the early 1930s, Mauser realized it was losing ground in the highly competitive and lucrative Chinese market, notably from the Spanish firms Astra and Royal, whom were producing select-fire machine pistols that externally resembled the C96 pistol. Josef Nickl whom worked in Mauser’s experimental department was tasked with creating a select-fire C96 as to remain competitive. Nickl’s design, patented in 1930, was quickly pushed into production and shipped to China, where it was soon apparent there were issues with the select-fire mechanism. By 1932, Karl Westinger, another employee of Mauser’s experimental department, designed an improved select-fire mechanism, of which most collectors are familiar with today. Between 1931-1936 Mauser produced approx. 95,000 Schnellfeuer machine pistols between both variations, largely owing to their rarity today. This example is marked “WAFFENFABRIK/ MAUSER/ OBERNDORF A/N” on the top flat of the faceted breech, with a double crowned “U” commercial proof marked on the left quarter flat (repeated on top of bolt), and with the S# on the left flat. Left side of the frame is marked “N” and “R” at the selector, followed by the Mauser banner logo, with “WAFFENFABRIK MAUSER/ OBERNDORF A. NECKAR/ D.R.P.u.A.P.” marked on the right. Metal components exhibit a blue finish overall, save for on the bolt, which is polished in-the-white. Rear sight slide exhibits a dull blue finish. Sub-frame assembly exhibits a proper dull gray appearance. Frame is mounted with 2-piece grooved wood grips, and features a integrally machined lanyard ring provision and a split key lanyard ring on the butt. Standard fixed blade front sight and tangent V-notch rear sight graduated 50-1000. Frame matches the full S# on the bbl./bbl. extension via “7134” on the interior. MAGS: x1 blued steel 10-rd. and x2 blued steel 20-rd. mags. Each mag. is marked with the Mauser banner logo on its floorplate. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: proper unnumbered wood stock / holster, marked with the Mauser banner logo on the side.
