EXCEEDINGLY SCARCE GERMAN WWII MP40 MAGAZINE POUCHES CONSTRUCTED FROM GAS CAPE MATERIAL

| 02-26919/MLW |

By 1944 and into 1945, severe material shortages pushed Germany into a dire situation, forcing many materials, particularly leather in this instance, to be substituted as much as possible. This pair of MP40 mag. pouches are constructed of a brown rubberized textile material, frequently associated with German Gasplanes (Gas Capes), with the only leather fittings consisting of the closure flap straps, belt loops, and D-ring straps. Rear of D-ring straps exhibit an Eagle/WaA623 proof (one pouch notably clearer than the other). The rear of the pouches are marked “MP38/40” in black ink, with each pouch exhibiting a partially legible mfg. code “RBNr.0/1305/0327” in black ink on the interior, beneath the left and center closure flaps. Left pouch is fitted with a side mounted provision, presumably for a loading tool. An exceedingly scarce pair of German WWII MP40 mag. pouches that are seldom encountered. NON-GUN
