Page 357 of “BOOK OF COLT FIREARMS” by R.L. Wilson states that only approximately 20 of these revolvers were engraved at the factory. Subject revolver features 75% coverage Class “B” foliate scroll engraving. High gloss full blue finish with matte finished top of frame & backstrap. Engraving is likely the work of noted Master Engraver Wilbur Glahn. Glahn began working for Colt in 1919 and was the primary engraver until his death in 1951. He is considered the last in a long line of engravers who immigrated from Germany. Bbl. 6″ with target sights. Checkered backstrap, trigger, hammer spur & cylinder release latch. Checkered walnut grips with silver RAMPANT COLT medallions. Original maroon hinged cardboard box containing instruction papers. Box has factory labels “ENGRAVED”, “B”, “TARGET & PATRIDGE SIGHTS”. Bottom of box is penciled with matching serial number.
