MAGNIFICENT ALVIN WHITE SIGNED AND MASTER ENGRAVED COLT FIRST GEN. SINGLE ACTION ARMY REVOLVER

Mfg. 1923 and subsequently master engraved by the celebrated Alvin Alexander White. White’s work is considered by many to be some of the highest quality contemporary engraving work ever produced. White served as bridge between old and new. Following his service in the U.S. Army Air Corps taking place in both North Africa and the Pacific Theater, White began engraving for Colt in the 1950s. White’s notoriety as a master engraver quickly gained traction with works produced for people such as former Presidents Ronald Reagan and John F. Kennedy. Revolver features 75% coverage of fine foliate scroll engraving throughout encompassed by straight line and fancy borders over finely stippled background. Left side of grip frame, under grip, bares engraver signature “A. A. WHITE ENG.” Revolver has a blued 4 3/4” barrel, six shot fluted cylinder, trigger guard, and grip frame. Two piece mother of pearl grips. Right panel bares relief carved steer head having emerald eyes. Matching numbers on grip and trigger guard frames. Two line barrel address. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: AAW Engravers Letter signed by then Vice President R. L. Wilson, and dated Oct. 30, 1973 confirming that subject revolver was engraved by Alvin White in 1956. STATUS: CURIO.
