SCARCE COLUMBIAN S.A. POLICARPA LTD. 22-2 TWIN BARREL MACHINE PISTOL

Designed by Heinrich Von WImmersperg, the 22-2 machine pistol was originally produced by the Venus Corporation of Utica, MI under the name “Venus 22-2” until the late 1970s when the production rights were sold to S.A. Policarpa of Columbia, who produced the 22-2 under the trademark name “Saturn”. Rudimentary in design, the 22-2’s grip frame is constructed of aluminum, with the receiver and hinged top cover being comprised of stamped steel. Most unusual is the implementation of x2 bbls. within a single block, as well as the bolt which utilizes x2 rimfire firing pins and an ejectors. This example is marked “POLICARPA LTDA. MADE IN COLUMBIA/ SER. 0007 S.M.G. 22 L.R.” on the left side of the receiver. The receiver, internals, top cover, and bbl. exhibit a phosphate finish, with the aluminum grip frame exhibiting a blue anodized finish. Bolt is polished in-the-white. Sides of the grip frame exhibits panels of hand cut checkering. Fixed V-notch rear sight with no provision for a front sight. Bolt features a folding charging handle on the left side. Grip frame features a checkered button, which when pressed allows for the removal of a dovetailed sliding plate on the pommel, allowing access to the hollow grip frame. MAGS: x1 dual phosphate finished steel 22-rd. (44-rds. total) mag. and x1 dual dull blue finished steel 32-rd. (64-rds. total) mag.
