U.S. “1945” DATED FIRESTONE TIRE & RUBBER CO. M2 60MM LIGHT MORTAR

M2 60mm mortar mfg. by Firestone Tire & Rubber Company in 1945. The base cap is marked “MORTAR, 60MM. M2 NO. 78429 ORD. DEPT. INSP. FAK/ FIRESTONE T.&R. CO. 1945 11.5 LBS.” followed by a U.S. flaming ordnance bomb proof. Top of the bipod assembly features a black enamel finished M4 sight, and exhibits a data plate that reads “MOUNT, MORTAR/ 60MM. M5 NO. 25845/ ORD. DEPT. U.S.A./ SUNDSTRAND M.T. CO. 1945/ INSP. A.C.R.”. Right leg of bipod features a leather wrapped handle and a brown leather strap. Metal components exhibit a green painted finish overall, with several parts / components of the bipod being polished in-the-white. Mortar tube is fitted with an original OD canvas muzzle cover and is accompanied by an original base plate. Firing pin is present, but not installed.
