VERY FINE SPENCER ARMS CO. M1882 SLIDE ACTION GRADE 2 SHOTGUN

These early American shotguns were the first truly successful slide action that was produced in the US. They were invented by Christopher Spencer, who is best known for his military carbines that were used throughout the US Civil & Indian wars. Eventually, Spencer sold the patents to Bannerman’s which continued production until approx 1907. The shotgun was produced prior to the sale and is fitted with a 30″ damascus bbl with steel bead front sight & “SPENCER ARMS CO. WINDSOR. CT. U.S.A. PAT. APR. 1882” bbl address. It has a checkered trombone slide that is found on the 1882 models. It has a case colored solid frame with single trigger. It has a round knob pistol grip butt that is terminated with a checkered hard rubber butt plate. STATUS : ANTIQUE
