WILSON ARMS REGISTERED SIDEPLATE “L” SERIES VICKERS MK I WATER-COOLED HEAVY MACHINE GUN WITH TRIPOD & ACCESSORIES

Mk I heavy machine gun originally mfg. by Vickers as part of the “L” series (1915-1916) and later registered with a Wilson Arms Co. sideplate and an 8mm (7.92x57mm Mauser) bbl. Sideplate is marked “WILSON ARMS CO./ BRUNSWICK GA./ VSA-077”. Original parts (all minus right sideplate) exhibit various British proof marks. Top of bbl. block is marked “7” above “MK I/ R 27”. Metal components exhibit a blue finish, with areas of a flaking black enamel finish. 2-piece plain wood spade grips, with integral oilers. Standard fixed blade front sight (with protective “ears”) and No. 2 Mk I aperture rear sight with “push-tension” adj. knob. Smooth steel jacket with asbestos insulated canvas jacket cover. Armored conical muzzle booster and brass jacket fittings retain traces of green period applied paint. No matching numbers, though all external parts of the jacket are marked with an “L” series S#. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: original tripod assembly, with ammunition can and steam condensing house. Side of tripod is marked “1944/ MCC”, with the pintle marked “1943/ MMC” on the left, and “MOUNT, TRIPOD, M.C. MK, IV,” on the right. PROVENANCE: Military Museum Collection of Shooters Outpost, Hooksett NH. NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT MG REQUIRING BATF TRANSFER BEFORE TAKING POSSESSION. FULLY TRANSFERABLE. STATUS: MODERN. CLASS III.
