VERY FINE, 1ST YEAR COLT 38 SUPER SEMI AUTO PISTOL
| Cal. 45 Colt. | S# B178. | 26-2996/NW |
Classic 5 1/2″ barrel having USA style (not Uberti) sight blade with vertical 90 degree rear edge; Uberti examples have a slight tilt toward the muzzle. Beautifully engraved by former Browning Master Engraver, Ron Reimer and cursive marked “R. Reimer” on the bottom of the barrel. Gold borders on cylinder frame at juncture of grip frame plus gold rings at each end of the barrel and on rear of cylinder. Caliber designation on barrel is in gold as is the center of a flower petal on the frame that continues the pathway for the ejector rod. Highly collectable, but difficult to find true information about Unites State Fire Arms products. Unable to determine the class of its finely executed foliate scroll engraving having punch dot backgrounds. Made (test fired May 2002) with transitional parts; references state A and B prefixed Rodeos had Uberti parts and that C and beyond were all USA made parts, yet scroll engraved front sight is USA configured. Case colored hammer is of early style having curved border and extra line on front portion of its checkering. Reference internet search indicated that B179 was a matching engraved Rodeo sold by auction in March of 2025 with genuine ivory grips only; unknown if first original sale was as a matched set. Assembly number “629” on trigger guard, back strap, loading gate and its black US marked checkered grips. Matching “B178” numbered cylinder has separate Colt style blued bushing. Unseen sides of grip frame assembly are black as are the cylinder stop notches and leads. Fine fitting ivory polymer grips. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: original black hinged box with green interior, black US checkered grips (blued screw) in dark blue draw string pouch, fired cartridge in small manila envelope having info to include Al Vardal as gunsmith, bottle style bore brush, sales brochure with sticker having reduced price for base Rodeo, trigger lock, black US marked draw string pouch for revolver, manual and white envelope from Ron Reiner containing 2 business cards and a signed document indicating that the engraving of the revolver was in October of 2016.
