REMARKABLE, S# 497 OF THE COLT TRANSITIONAL MODEL U.S. 1911A1 SEMI AUTO PISTOLS

This pistol was 1 of 1,000 shipped to Springfield Armory Jan. 23, 1924, designated as the “IMPROVED AUTOMATIC PISTOL, CALIBER .45, MODEL OF 1911″; retroactively named to the 1911A1 on May 20, 1926. The 5” Colt barrel is partially stamped “K” on bottom along with intertwined “HP” over chamber. Slide has US 1911 slide markings along with “fat” blade front sight & flat-top U notch rear sight; “H” inspector proof on rear of slide and partial “6” on bottom of slide. Frame has “H” & “G” proofs on top, intertwined “WTG” Cap. Walter T. Gorton proof left side & “60” proof right side. Checkered hammer with extended comb to grip safety. Arched mainspring housing with lanyard loop & checkering to grip surface. Fully checkered walnut stocks. MAGS: 2 – 7 rd.; 1 two toned & 1 fully blued. CURIO GUN
