The 23-3/4″ barrel set is of usual Vierling layout with side-by-side shotgun barrels, bottom large caliber rifle barrel, and small caliber rifle in top rib. Rib is highly raised with matted top holding two folding leaf rear sights. Sight for top barrel is engraved “V”. Rear portion of rib is fitted with Krieghoff type slip-on scope bases. Front sight is a silver bead. Central portion of rib is slightly cut away forming quarter rear rib and front sight ramp. This area is engraved “H. Donnerberg. Nordhausen” in milled out portion (known to be working mid 1930’s). Barrel flats are stamped with February 1939 German nitro proofs for 16 gauge and 7×57. Left side of top rib is stamped with nitro proofs for Vierling cartridge. Champagne color anodized dural double arched back blitz action is fitted with tang mounted rifle shotgun selector, greener type side safety, pin cocking indicators on top, crossbolt third fastener engaging offset extension on rib, side clips, bushed strikers (all four), and double triggers (both set). Action is engraved with near full coverage large shaded scrolling acanthus which surrounds well detailed semi-relief game scenes on sides with hound retrieving dead fox on left side of action, while right side portrays a defensive stag being held at bay by a snarling hound. Trigger plate is gray finished steel, both triggers are set. Trigger guard is of horn. Sunburst horn capped pistol grip buttstock is made from a very attractive piece of fiddle figured and well streaked European walnut and measures 14″ over 1″ thick checkered horn buttplate. Stock features slight hog back to comb, shadow line right hand cheekpiece, point pattern checkering on grip, and a sling loop on toeline matching that soldered to bottom barrel. Matching splinter forend with Schnabel tip has Deeley release. Vierling includes its original Zeiss 6X rail scope with three post reticle in Krieghoff type mounts (rear with windage).
