RARE BOYLE GAMBLE & MACFEE CONFEDERATE FOOT OFFICER SWORD

This is fine example of this unique Richmond pattern, “as found” beautiful condition with original scabbard still with hangers attached, 29” unstopped fuller blade with original factory surface & luster. “BOYLE, GAMBLE & MACFEE / RICHMOND / VA” cast in relief on bottom of guard, unique Confederate branched foot officer hilt. Most of this pattern are not marked, and marked examples are very scarce, especially in superior condition and with scabbards. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: paid invoice from James Julia auctions, 2017; copies of pages from Bill Albaugh’s text on Confederate swords giving history of maker, none of the examples pictured in Albaugh have a scabbard as they are very scarce.
