VERY RARE & PUBLISHED RESIN STOCK BORSIGWALDE K98K BOLT ACTION RIFLE

| Cal. 8×57. | S# 6864a. | Bbl. 23 1/2″. | 26-4024/MJC |

Standard K98k sights. All matching numbers. This very rifle is pictured in the book “Karabiner 98k Volume 1” by Bruce Karem & Michael Steves on pgs. 390-391. In 1937 Mauser Borsigwalde developed a composite stock for the K98k rifle. AEG made a small number (Likely in the hundreds) of these composite stocks for Borsigwalde. A wartime US Army report describes how one of these rifles was found with rusted & pitted metal but the stock remained intact with only dings, dents & scratches. The same report also stated under cold weather the plastic stock became too hot making it hard to hold. Under hot conditions the metal became hot but stock were unaffected. Due to the limited numbers of these rifles produced & the war today surviving examples are very rare making this one a great opportunity for the advanced military or Mauser collector to acquire an extraordinary piece. Receiver ring bears the proper “S/243” code with 1937 date. Parts have mostly eagle “211” inspection stamps. Blued finish. Resin stock set with left side sling provisions & leather sling. Unnumbered cleaning rod present. Right side of butt has eagle “H” Heer marking with eagle “211” inspection stamps & three added scratch initials. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: WaA211 muzzle cover. PROVENANCE: From an Esteemed & Refined Private German Military Collection. CURIO GUN
