ALWAYS DESIRABLE, GERMAN WWII, STEYR “BNZ” CODE “41” DATE MP40 SUBMACHINE GUN

MP40 submachine gun mfg. in Austria by Steyr-Daimler-Puch in 1941. Top of the lower assembly is marked “MP40/ bnz. 41” above the S#. Eagle/WaA623 proofing is present on the receiver, lower, and various other small parts. Telescoping mainspring is marked with a Steyr Eagle/WaA815. Metal components exhibit a blue finish overall. 1-piece grooved brown pressed resin lower housing and 2-piece grips. Standard hooded blade front sight and x2 leaf (x1 fixed, x1 folding) square notch rear sight graduated “100” and “200”. Threaded bbl. muzzle protector, with “NURAL” marked resting bar, ribbed mag. well, and early hook style charging handle. Underside of bbl. nut, sling loop, and receiver exhibit some grind marks, which appear to reflect a previous weld in the corresponding area. Chamber area appears to have previously had a small plug weld, which has been professionally removed. All serialized parts are matching, to include the lower, triggerguard, both sides of the stock, receiver tube, rear sight assembly, bbl., front sight hood, and telescoping mainspring. Bolt is unnumbered, but marked with a Steyr Eagle/WaA623 proof. NFA registry lists “German Gov’t” in the manufacturer block. MAGS: x1 blued steel 32-rd. mag. marked with ERMA’s “ayf” mfg. code and a “4” date code above x2 ERMA Eagle/280 proofs. This example is fitted with a proper brown leather sling, marked with a faint mostly illegible ink stamp that appears to read “MP38u 40”.
