OUTSTANDING JOSLYN MODEL 1855 “MONKEY TAIL” SADDLE RING CARBINE

Standard configuration, 22.5” browned barrel, tall pinched front sight, read adjustable rear sight. Case colored lock marked “A.H. WATERS & Co. / MILBURY, MASS”. “Monkey tail” case colored hinged breech lever stamped “PAT’D BY / B.F. JOSLYN. / AUG. 23, 1855”. This was the last martial contract by the Waters family who had military contracts from just after formation of the United States. These antebellum carbines were issued to midwestern cavalry units during the Civil War; this is among the best survivors. ANTIQUE GUN
