After 1966 the Pointer Grade Browning was always special order. It’s very pleasing engraving pattern always gets attention and brings a premium. The Superlight variation is exceptionally rare and desirable. This very fine “as found” example has 26-3/8″ barrels marked for skeet & skeet chokes fitted with narrow ventilated rib. All correct Browning markings are on either side of rib. Coin finished lightweight rounded action is fitted with non-automatic safety with barrel selector for gold plated single trigger. Action is engraved with near full coverage very nicely cut scroll with beaded borders which surrounds game scenes. A pointer is retrieving a duck on left side and another pointer is retrieving a pheasant on right. Bottom of action depicts two resting quail (?) and a rising cock pheasant with hen on ground is engraved on trigger guard bow. Right side pointer scene is marked with engraver’s signature “J.M. Debrus” (Jean-Marie Debrus of Liege.) at bottom right. Left hand scene is signed “Bleus” on lower border (Louis Bleus another master Browning engraver who did most of the “American Pin-Tail” Superposed of the Browning Waterfowl Series.). Straight grip buttstock made of broadly striped Claro walnut meaures 14-3/8″ over Browning buttplate. Well cut point pattern checkering is at grip. Nicely matching forend has correct schnabled tip.
