Developed at the end of the Soviet era, the Gepard family of bullpup rifles were designed for the Hungarian People’s Army, who desired a portable anti-material rifle that was capable of combating lightly armored targets and vehicles. Development was headed by Ferenc Foldi, with the Gepard lineage of rifles featuring a (by today’s standards) unconventional long recoil action. Foldi continued to refine the design throughout the years, with the action varying from single shot, bolt action, and semi-automatic designs, which ultimately culminated in the M6 (“GM6 Lynx”). Compared to its far more common contemporary, the Barrett M82, the GM6 Lynx boasts an impressive 23.15 lbs weight (empty) vs. the M82’s weight of 29.7 lbs (empty), while also being notably shorter at 43.85″ overall (36″ when bbl. is locked to the rear in portable configuration) vs. the M82’s overall length of 57″ (with a 29″ bbl.). This example, mfg. in Hungary by Sero International Kft. is marked “GM6 LYNX HL-357 .50cal / 12,7mm/ SERO 2022 HUN, Made in EU Patented”, followed by a “THOR GDG/ Van Buren, AR” import mark. Alloy and steel receiver components exhibit a black Cerakote finish. Bbl., adj. brake, and bolt assembly exhibit a blue finish. Receiver is fitted with 2-piece plain black rubber grip panels, with an angled (for right-handed shooters) black rubber recoil pad. Top of the receiver features an 18 3/8″ picatinny rail, with a 4 11/16″ rail mounted on the left and underside, as well as a 2 3/8″ rail on the right. Integral side-folding bipod on bbl. catch latch. All serialized parts are matching, to include the receiver, bolt, and bbl. MAGS: x2 5-rd. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: black synthetic Pelican hard case containing a fitted hard foam cut interior, which contains the aforementioned mags., a manual, as well as a spare recoil spring. MODERN GUN
