EXCEPTIONAL COLT 1883 BURGESS LEVER ACTION RIFLE
| Cal. 44-40. | S# 3178. | 01-29862/BH |
The Colt Burgess had a very limited production run with only 6,403 manufactured from 1883-1885. This production model’s life was cut short due to Winchester and Colt’s agreement to not compete with each other. If Colt stayed out of the longarm market, Winchester would avoid manufacturing handguns. This exceptional example is atypical condition-wise from what few are found today which are normally devoid of most, if not all finish. High polished Colt blued action. Barrel & mag. tube are browned rather than blued which has been noted on numerous examples as factory original. Case hardened lever, hammer & butt plate. Walnut for end & straight grip stock. ANTIQUE GUN
