IMPERIAL JAPANESE, HITACHI HEIKI TYPE 92 HEAVY MACHINE GUN WITH TRIPOD & OPTIC

Type 92 heavy machine gun mfg. by Hitachi Keiki under supervision of Kokura arsenal in 1942. Left side of the receiver is marked with the Hitachi Heiki arsenal insignia above the S# “1631”, Showa date code “17.11” (1942, November), and the Kokura arsenal insignia, with a triad of Kanji characters denoting the model designation marked across the top of the receiver. Metal components exhibit a blue finish overall. Receiver is mounted with 2-piece folding plain wood grips. Standard protected dovetailed blade front sight and adj. aperture rear sight. Receiver retains an original brass optic dovetail plate. No matching numbers are present. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: Kokura produced tripod (S#: 288) without transit handle extensions, as well as a 4×10 scope with rubberized canvas carrier (carrier matching optic via “31103” in red painted numbers on then lid).  PROVENANCE: From the Harry A.
